THROWDOWN

Throwdown can take place at Ender Hole, King’s Bend (Locust Fork of the Warrior).  This event is formatted similar to the old school rodeo with new school judging.  This combination has been introduced to encourage beginners to compete and give the pros a chance at the cash purse.  For paddlers wishing to compete in the beginner or intermediate spots, there will only be a $10 insurance fee required for competing, BUT NO ENTRY FEE. During Preliminaries, each competitor has three 1-minute rides.  All 3 rides will be judged and the top eight competitors will move on to finals. During Finals the competitors will be put into the March Madness bracket with 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5.  So be consistent and use strategy to be crowned champion. We will be using the International Freestyle Committee rules so make sure to study the scoring sheet.

NOTICE:     SPECTATORS WILL BE ALLOWED AT ENDER HOLE VIA RAFTS AND PADDLE CRAFT ONLY.  PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PADDLING GEAR IF YOU HAVE IT.  LIFE JACKETS (PFDs), SPLASH GEAR & WET SUITS ARE PROVIDED UPON REQUEST.  PLEASE BRING CASH TO TIP YOUR GUIDE!

BIG TRICK

The Big Trick contest will be at Ender Hole (Locust Fork River) and will be a round robin.  Competitors will be put into heats and take turns throwing the biggest tricks they can.  With only 15 seconds on each turn you will have to throw quick and big. If a competitor goes big and sticks the move you have two strokes to try another big combo or aerial move.  Each competitor will not be scored for the same move twice unless it is preformed bigger than the previous time and you will be rewarded for going big and throwing unique combination moves. So competitors show your versatility!  The point is to show everyone something they have not seen before and change the perception of freestyle kayaking by doing a new combo to push the limits of freestyle kayaking and make it more fun to watch for the everyone back at the land.   We want big air or something new.

Note:  Big Trick is for Expert and Pros only.
