Throwdown
The Throwdown may take place at Ender Hole or King’s Bend Hole on the Locust Fork of the Warrior River or Hawaii 5-0 Rapids on the Mulberry Fork of the Warrior River. Locations will be determined by which spot(s) have the best water level for the competition. This will be announced the night before or morning of the competition, so please be prepared to get moving early in the morning (if not up by the time posted you will forfeit your spot on the shuttle, we have a lot of competitors and need to get the “show on the road”).
The format of the event is an old school rodeo with new school judging and was introduced to encourage beginners to compete while giving the pros a chance at the cash purse. For paddlers wishing to compete in the beginner or intermediate spots, open classes will be available. During preliminaries, each competitor will have three 1-minute rides. All three rides will be judged according to USA Freestyle Kayak rules and the top eight competitors will move on to finals. During Finals, the competitors will be put into the March Madness bracket with 1 vs. 8, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5. Competitors must be consistent and use strategy to be crowned champion. During the finals, we will be using the International Freestyle Committee rules. AMG will be a part of the 2011 IFC point series so make sure to study the scoring sheet and be ready to take the challenge.
NOTICE: ABSOLUTELY NO SPECTATORS ALLOWED UNLESS YOU PADDLE IN TO ENDER HOLE
